Kathleen Hunter

Kathleen "Katie" (Bonvouloir) Hunter, age 88, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Torch Lake, Michigan, died peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019. She was born on March 9, 1931, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to the late Wilfrid and Nancy Bonvouloir. On June 14, 1951, Katie married Hilton Walter Hunter. Together they had four children and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Katie's philanthropy and love of politics dominated her leisure time. She was an active volunteer in every community she lived in. Katie loved to play golf and go sailing with Hilton. She was a person that was surrounded by many loving friendships; she truly loved her life and gave it a good run! Survivors include her three daughters, Nancy (Ray) Matuszak, Susan (Mark) Youngren, and Peggy (Michael Dunlop) Hunter; daughter-in-law, Alison Swope; 5 grandchildren; 3.5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Foster and Ginger Phillippy; and sister-in-law, Jean (Barney) Voelcker. Katie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hilton Walter Hunter and her son, Hilton Walter Hunter II. Per Katie's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family party will be celebrated at the cottage at a later date. Please refrain from sending flowers.
