Kathie L. Wood

Kathie L. Wood, age 69, of Langston, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Corewell Health Greenville Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of Lloyd Lee & Betty Jane (Vought-Drowley) Wood, she was born on April 3, 1956 in Alma, Michigan.

Kathie was an avid NASCAR fan and appreciated her first to race at MIS with her son, Cory a few years ago. This past weekend, even while in the hospital, her long-time companion, John had the Daytona 500 on in her room for her. She enjoyed camping with her family and adored her feline friend, JD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joan Bixler; and a brother, Donald Wood. She is survived by her companion of over twenty-six years, John Laramore, of Langston; her son, Cory & Amanda Wood of St. Louis; her daughter, Tonya Smith, of Alma; seven grandchildren, Hannah, Lucas, Katelyn, Aarolyn, Brynn, Hunter, and Nikolai; and two precious great-grandchildren, Jamison and Julien.

A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held in the spring and announced later.
