Katherine L. Rieckman, age 84, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her home. The daughter of Claude and Bertie (Goff) Flynn, she was born on September 22, 1925 in Somerset, KY. Katie is survived by her children, Barb (Gene) Higginson and Paul (Karen) Rieckman of Gowen; six grandchildren, Steve (Shelly McMahan) Higginson of Big Rapids, Rex (Michelle Thomas) Higginson, Darci (Kevin) Thompson of Grand Rapids, Jennifer Kouba of Ann Arbor, Melissa (Bob) Araujo of Stanton and Brett (Hannah) Harriman of Marquette; ten great grandchildren, Brittany, Trevor, Zackary, Darieck, Alissa, Brooklyn ,Bobby, Karter, Kaylie, and Kiera; one great-great grandchild, Tristan; brothers in law, Ralph E. (Edla) Rieckman of Harvard, Francis Bud Rieckman of Cedar Springs and John Rieckman of Shingleton; sisters in law, Arlene Rieckman and Louise Byrne; 11 nieces, Pam, Debbie, Marylou, Diane, Julie, Carla, Cathy, Cindy, Becky, Lisa, and Lori; four nephews, Robert, James, Dan and Joe. She was married to Robert Rieckman on February 3, 1950 and he preceded her in 1977. She was also preceded by her parents, sister, Rosie Hanna, brothers in law, Richard Hanna, James O. and Joseph Rieckman, sisters in law, Jeanette and Lois Rieckman, mother in law, Enid Rieckman, father in law, Ralph Rieckman, niece, Patricia Rieckman, nephews, Timothy and Michael Rieckman. Katie retired in 1989 from Frigidaire, Greenville after 24 years of service. Since retiring she enjoyed watching Deal or No Deal, her daily soap opera followed by gospel music by the Gaithers, Lawrence Welk reruns and Dancing with the Stars.
