There will be a Zoom memorial on April 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Please email kse57@yahoo.com for a link.
The daughter of Allen James & Mayme Susanna (Store) Daniels, she was born on June 26, 1931 in Ontonagon, Michigan. On August 23, 1952, she married David Wayne Eberhard and together they raised three children and enjoyed 68 years of marriage before his passing on January 1, 2021.
Growing up in the Upper Peninsula, just a few miles from Lake Superior, Katherine was heavily involved with 4H where she learned about canning, cooking and other skills. In her teens Katherine would work summers as housekeeper and cook for families who had cottages on the lake, opening the cottages for their arrival. She and (Alice) Joyce were once featured singing on a radio show in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Katherine loved school and was valedictorian of the Ontonagon, Michigan High School class of 1949. She received a scholarship to Michigan State University, where she was a Home Economics major. While living in East Lansing, Michigan in the home of Macey (and Victor) Andersen and attending MSU, Katherine began studying the bible with Macey. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 17, 1950. She loved what she learned from the bible. Shortly after her baptism she met the love of her life, David Wayne Eberhard, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness on New York Avenue in Lansing, Michigan. Kay served as a publisher in the East Lansing and South Lansing congregations until 1975, at which time the family moved to Greenville, Michigan where she has served as a publisher until her husband's death in 2021, punctuated by a few years when they lived in Oscoda, Michigan and attended the East Tawas congregation. Since that time, she has been living in the home of her eldest son in Eaton Rapids where she has been attending the Charlotte Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved talking to others about Jehovah God and took every opportunity to do so.
Kay was her children's and grandchildren's great fans. She loved art and music. She played the guitar at a lot of get togethers where singing was a highlight. She was always busy canning or freezing fruits and vegetables from the garden. She always looked on the bright side and loved people and life.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Allen & Mayme Daniels; her beloved husband, David Wayne Eberhard; siblings, Evelyn Everett, Layton Daniels, Irene Lobeck, Dorothy Thebo, Ruth Daniels, James Daniels, Richard Daniels, Leon Daniels, Francis Daniels and Edward Daniels; brothers-in-law, George Leland Eberhard and Harrison Eberhard; and sister-in-law, Edna "Dolly" Rohrer.
