Karyl Bergakker

Karyl Jean Bergakker, age 79, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, after suffering a massive stroke. The daughter of John Louis & Olive (McCord) Comp, she was born on March 8, 1937 in Stickney, South Dakota. On June 9, 1956, in Grand Rapids, she married Dale Leon Bergakker and together they raised five children and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Karyl also worked outside the home as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, enjoyed gardening, and delighted in telling everyone about her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Dale Bergakker; their children, Kathleen & Dan Popma, Curtis & Kathleen Bergakker, Darwin Bergakker, Debra & Ken Kelley, and Patricia & Mark Currier; two sisters, Mary Belle Ruesink and Nyla Vincent; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Visitation with the family is from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Community Christian Reformed Church, 150 Burt Street S.E. at Jefferson Avenue, Wyoming, where memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday.
