June Lillie-Davis, age 82, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, 2007, surrounded by the love of her family at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of James & Lillian Irene (Gillman) Newland, she was born on March 3, 1925 in Trufant. After graduating high school, she worked at the Gibson Refrigerator Co. in Greenville during World War II where she helped build the gliders used in the D-Day invasion. After the war she married Clyde Wayne Lillie, a U.S. Army veteran, and together they had five children. Clyde passed away in 1966, leaving June as a young widow and mother. She later married Thomas Davis, who passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clifford Newland; and a daughter, Judy Ann Lillie.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, listening to music, fishing, and gardening.
Surviving are her five children, Dianne & Bob Shutt of Greenville, Linda & Henry Creasap of Gowen, Laura & Rick Deal of Greenville, Joanna Lillie of Carson City, and Rick & Bobbi Lillie of Lake; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara Berndt of Detroit, Carolyn & Floyd Knapp of Greenville, and Kathy & Bill Cole of Spencer Township; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Leroy Dyke, pastor of Living Faith Family Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Mills Cemetery.
