June Cross

June Louise Cross, age 73, of Lakeview, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at her home under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. The daughter of Ralph Merlin & Anna Tina (Schriver) Spencer, she was born on October 23, 1950 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On November 8, 1968, in Grandville, she married Kenneth Harrison Cross, Jr., and together they raised three sons and enjoyed nearly 52 years of marriage until Ken passed away on June 9, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Mabel Lucille (Knapp) & Kenneth Harrison Cross, Sr.; and two brothers, Rev. Roger Spencer and William Spencer. A devoted wife and mother, June also worked outside the home after her boys were in high school and spent nearly 30 years working for the former Kelsey Memorial Hospital -- first in the laundry and later as a courier between Spectrum Health hospitals and laboratories (now Corewell Health). She was a long-time member of Langston Bible Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, handicrafts, and her dog, Toby. She delighted in time spent with her family, friends, and church family. Surviving are her sons, Gordon & Lynn Cross of Trufant, Don & Carmen Cross of Lakeview, and Dan Cross of Lakeview; three grandchildren, Autum Cross, Sierra & Adam Helms, and Mark Plesko; a sister, Sandra Doornbos of Grandville; siblings-in-law, Barb McGuire of Petoskey, Ronnie Cross of St. Johns, and Christine Campbell of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Langston Bible Church, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. John Frank will officiate and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Langston (adjacent to the church). Envelopes for memorial contributions to either Langston Bible Church or Heartland Hospice will be available at the church.
