Julius Moravik

Julius Moravik, age 93, of Edmore, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of John & Antonia (Mazak) Moravik, he was born on October 25, 1923 in Belleville. A proud veteran of World War II, Julius entered the U.S. Army after graduating high school and was stationed in the Philippine Islands. Following his discharge, he returned home and February 7, 1948, at Belleville, he married Maxine May Ranger, and together they had seven children and enjoyed almost 69 years of marriage. Julius worked at the Ford Motor Company for several years until the family moved to Montcalm County in 1968 so he could pursue his life long passion of farming. For 25 years he and Maxine were 4-H leaders, as well as members of the Montcalm County Farm Bureau. "Julie", as he was known to family and friends, also was a member of the Six Lakes Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Moravik; and a daughter, Bonita Moravik, a victim of the polio epidemic. Surviving are his wife, Maxine Moravik of Edmore; six children, John & Alma Moravik of Ithaca, Victoria Dyer of Stanton, David Moravik of Oregon, Lorraine & Gary Bell of Stanton, Timothy Moravik of Edmore, and Kimberly & Frank Hartman of Ionia; a brother, Emil Moravik of Ypsilanti; five brothers-in-law; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Monday at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth Street, Orleans, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rev. Ken Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate, and military honors will conclude the ceremonies. A luncheon will follow at the church and burial will take place privately at McBride Cemetery.
