Judy Essenburgh

October 4, 1951 — September 19, 2022

Judy Lee (Veurink) Essenburgh, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, as a result of complications from a lingering illness. Judy loved life, people of all walks of life and ethnicities and stood for freedom, peace, justice and inclusiveness - always. She was one of the original members of the Holland Peace Makers, key member of the planning committee for the Michigan Peace March (and walked the entire distance) and many other peace activist activities. She believed in constant improvement through education and put that philosophy to practice through Hospice training, Holland Neighborhood Watch, Holland Police Academy (twice) and many other training sessions and memberships in several civic/cultural organizations. Judy loved to experience new things and cultures and was able to travel to many foreign countries. Her daily goal was to make someone smile. She has now taken the journey from the physical life to the spiritual one. Gone too soon. She will be missed by everyone who's life she may have touched along the way. Judy leaves behind her husband of 35 years, D. Scott Essenburgh, two daughters; Andrea (Veurink) Spieles (Brian) of Austin, Texas and Mia (Veurink) Heyboer (John) of Zeeland, Michigan and seven grandchildren. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private gathering at a later date. A very special thanks to the wonderful people with Hospice of Holland.
