Judith Tremore

October 2, 1938 — January 23, 2024

Judith Josephine (Ondria) Tremore, 85, of Grand Rapids, lovingly known as Judy, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024. Born on October 2, 1938,in Grand Haven, Michigan, Judy was a courageous and resilient woman who lived a life filled with love and purpose. She was a gifted and talented writer, whose words touched many hearts. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Judy's resilience was a beacon for all who knew her, and her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to have known her. Judy spent her formative years in Berwyn, Illinois, until she left for the University of Illinois in Champagne Urbana, where she met John, her husband. The rest, as they say, is history. In 1970 they relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan, with their family. Judy spent the next 53 years of her life becoming a cherished member of her Grand Rapids community. Judy’s passion was writing—weaving a tapestry of words that spanned books, newspapers, and magazines. She wrote for Cadence newspaper in East Grand Rapids, The Grand Rapids Press, Grand Rapids Business Journal, Grand Rapids Magazine, Cosmopolitan Home, Metropolitan Woman magazine, Dummies books (Wiley Publishing Inc.), and How-To books for Adams Media Corp. Judy retired in 2004, but her passion for literature persisted. She was an avid reader and always had a stack of books next to her couch and on her tablet. Judy’s interests extended beyond the written word. She was an enthusiastic traveler, loved visiting art museums, and was an antique collector. A season ticket holder to Grand Rapids Symphony concerts, she spent more than 30 years enjoying the concerts with friends. She also loved gardening. Her roses were gorgeous! Judy's life was rich in relationships, especially her Grand Rapids Press luncheon group, Char DeJonge, Chris Rougier-Chapman, Ann Connor, Maureen Amy, Judy Clayton, and Reva Binder. She leaves behind her loving family: her daughter, Andrea (Brent) Tremore-Snow; her son, David Tremore (Melissa Werth); granddaughters, Mindy Tremore and Krys Snow-Perea; grandsons, Michael (Starr) Tremore Jr., Matthew Tremore, and Yolotl (Brent) Snow-Perea; her great-granddaughters, Olive and Amelia Michaelson; her sisters, Paulette Simpson and MaryAnn McCollough; her sister-in-law, Judy (Harold) Schroth, many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her devoted caregiver, Linda Robinson. Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Tremore; her parents, Paul and Agnes Ondrla; her son, Michael Tremore Sr.; and her great-granddaughter, Harlequinn Dahlia Hosford. As we remember Judy, let us celebrate her life and cherish the precious memories we shared with her. Her love, courage, resilience, and talent have left an indelible mark on all of us.
