It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Judith Anne Ross, affectionately known as Judy, who transitioned peacefully on December 23, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on November 1, 1946, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late MaryJane Davis, Judith was a loving beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a steadfast rock in her family, a devoted matriarch who deeply cherished her kin. She was an adventurous spirit who lived her life with enthusiasm, relishing the joy of exploring new places and immersing herself in diverse cultures.
As a hospice nurse aide, Judith displayed her profound compassion and care in every interaction. She held an unwavering commitment to the well-being of those under her care, a testament to her loving nature. Her adventurous spirit led her to live in various locations such as Frankfurt, Germany, New London, CT, Battle Creek, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Chandler, AZ, and El Paso, TX, before finally settling in Grandville, Michigan. A woman of many interests, Judith enjoyed playing bingo, playing lottery numbers, appreciating music, watching old movies, traveling, and playing board games and cards. She was a regular volunteer at Senior Neighbors, where her caring nature and joyous spirit brought comfort and happiness to many.
In her personal life, Judith was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a guiding light and a source of boundless love and wisdom for her family. She is survived by her children, Tina (James) Clingman, Billy (Angie) Ross Jr, Donald Vandorsten Jr; her grandchildren, Temeka (Eann) Young, Amber Clingman, William (Crystal) Green III, Terrence Clingman Jr, Jazzmin Ross, Diamond Ross, Billy Ross III, Thomas Patton, and Brandon Phillips; her great-grandchildren, Amare, Braylon, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Jonathan, Amyah, Catalaya, Jayden, Layla, Liam, Levi, Ariella, Kayden, Rilen, Kyia, Mila, Kennedy; brothers, Harold (Susan) Depuy, Richard Depuy; and host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ross Sr., her mother, MaryJane Davis, her sisters, Sally Richardson, Linda, Verna, and her son, Charles Vandorsten.
As we look to the heavens, we are reminded of the verse from Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." As we mourn the loss of our dear Judith, we find solace in the memories she has left behind and the love she shared with us all. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2:30pm EST at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan, 49012.
We encourage all who knew and loved Judith to share memories and upload photos to her memorial page. In honoring her life, we remember the extraordinary woman she was and the indelible impact she made on our lives.
