With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Judith Ann DeVry, known lovingly as "Judy", who completed her earthly journey on July 9, 2024. Born on February 4, 1941, in Big Rapids, Michigan, Judy was a beacon of love, support, and compassion, leaving an indelible impact on all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the verse from Proverbs 31:25, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
Judith was a hardworking and dedicated woman. She spent her career in two drastically different fields, beginning in aerospace administration at McDonnell Douglas and later transitioning to a department store salesperson at Macy's. No matter where she worked, her supportive and compassionate character shined through, endearing her to colleagues and customers alike. Upon retirement, she found joy in spending time with friends and family, collecting antiques, quilting, and baking. Her love for the holidays was unmatchable, as she delighted in decking out her beautiful Victorian-era home, built in the 1900s, in festive decor. When she wasn't at her residence in Caledonia, Michigan, you could find her basking in the warmth of Southern California, where she spent her winters.
Judy's faith was an important aspect of her life. She was an active member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church, where her resilient spirit and loving nature inspired many. Above all, what mattered most to Judith were her friends and family, especially her son, Christopher DeVry. She is survived by Christopher, and is preceded in death by her father, William Baxter; her mother, Dorothy Baxter; and her sister, Karen Joyce.
Judy's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched. To those who knew and loved her, we invite you to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page, as a tribute to the remarkable life of our beloved Judith. She remains a beacon of strength, a testament to resilience, and an example of unwavering love and compassion. May her memory forever be a blessing.
