Joyce Johnson

Joyce "Joy" I. Johnson, age 84, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully with family by her side Monday, April 17, 2017 at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, Byron Center. The daughter of Sylvester & May (Evans) Longeway, she was born on August 30, 1932 in Grand Rapids. Joy was a graduate of South High School, Grand Rapids in 1950. She had several secretarial jobs over the years and went on to be a medical assistant in Traverse City. She enjoyed golfing, bridge, Facebook and spending time with her family. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jill Lane Johnson-Frier; and sister, Jann Rademaker. Surviving are her loving husband of 64 years, Rogers M. Johnson of Hudsonville; son, Brien (Lauri) Johnson of Highland Park, IL; daughter, Nancy (David) Morrison of Hudsonville; and grandchildren, Mark Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Daniel Morrison, Kelsey (Bruce) Gerber. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2350 44th St. S.W., Wyoming, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to Christ Lutheran Church or Faith Hospice. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place.
