Joy Littell

April 2, 1927 — June 4, 2025

Joy Elizabeth Littell passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025 at the age of 98. Born to George and Edna McDonald on April 2, 1927, in Hesperia, Michigan, Joy was the beacon of warmth and generosity in every life she touched. The kindness and love she radiated were as enduring as they were profound, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her. Joy was a woman of many talents, working many years for Straits Steel and Wire Co. in Ludington, Michigan, from where she retired in 1992. Her professional life was marked by dedication and hard work, but her heart truly belonged at home, with her family. She found joy in the simplest of things - baking, feeding the birds, spoiling her grandchildren and grand fur babies. Her cream puffs, a family favorite, were a testament to her baking skills and her self-proclaimed title as the "Chairman of the board" for her family showcased her playful spirit. Joy also dedicated a significant portion of her time serving as the Emblem Club president in Ludington. Joy’s life was rich with love and shared experiences. She was a loving wife to her late husband, George Littell, whom she married on July 30, 1966. She was a caring and thoughtful mother to her children, Steven (Tonya) Littell, Charles (Karen) Littell, John (Sue) Silvis, Dorothy Silvis and Suzanne (Phillip) Shilling. Joy’s legacy will continue to live on through her grandchildren, Joshua (Elizabeth) Littell, Adam Littell, Kayleah (Jesse) Rodriguez, Sue (Ben) Sawdo, Joy Littell, Charlene Littell, Rick Lorts, Brian (Holli) Lorts, Jackie Schilling, Christina (Tim) Hartz and many great grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her Sister and best friend Margaret Virgo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, George Littell, her sons, Albert Silvis and infant son Edward. In celebrating Joy's life, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs on her memorial page. These contributions will serve as a comforting reminder of the thoughtful, generous, compassionate, and loving woman that Joy was, and the remarkable life she led.
