Joy Ann Giacoletto, a compassionate soul and beacon of light, passed away on December 21, 2023. Born in Chicago, IL on September 16, 1960, Joy was a person whose name truly reflected her inner spirit. Her thoughtfulness was radiated in every act, reaching out to touch the lives of everyone she encountered. As Emily Dickinson once wrote, "If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain," Joy seemed to live by these words, her life a testament to this unwavering devotion to others.
Joy made Albion, Michigan her home for 25 years, creating a sanctuary of love and warmth for her family and friends. Her garden, a reflection of her spirit, was a place where she found peace and joy. A truly gifted gardener, Joy had a unique ability to make anything grow, a skill that extended beyond her beloved plants. She nurtured relationships with the same patience and care she gave her garden. Her supportive nature made her a rock for her family, especially for her partner of 25 years, Phillip, and her treasured grandchildren. Joy's spirited personality, full of life and laughter, will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
Joy is survived by her adoring partner, Phillip Harris; her sons, Matthew and Chad Harris; her daughter-in-law, Sarah Harris; and her cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Ethan, Aubrey, Chris, and Jadin Harris. As we mourn the loss of this incredible woman, we also celebrate her life and the wonderful memories she left behind. She may have left this world, but her legacy of love, compassion, and joy will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
In remembering Joy, we encourage friends and family to share their memories and upload photos on her memorial page. As we come together to grieve, let us also celebrate the life of a woman who taught us the joy of living, the gift of giving, and the beauty of a garden nurtured with love and care.
