Joshua Minion

September 28, 1990 — April 2, 2025

Joshua James Minion passed away in his Gowen home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the age of 34. He was a beloved son, brother, dad, friend, artist, music lover, and dog dad—though none of those titles meant more to him than being Emmett’s father. The bond they shared was deep and beautiful; they were true adventure buddies. Emmett was Joshua’s heart walking outside his body. Joshua also played a quiet but powerful role as a father figure to Emmett’s brothers, Kendrick and Sonny. He showed up for them with the same heart, humor, and steady presence that made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. In recent months, Joshua had found joy and companionship with his partner, Haley. He cared deeply for her and her children, and they had begun imagining a future together. Their time was meaningful, and his family was grateful he had found someone who made him so happy. Born on September 28, 1990, Joshua was the youngest in his family, a classic little brother to his sisters, Katy and Emily, who loved him fiercely—even when he was annoying them (which he did with expert-level precision). The three of them recently got matching tattoos, a permanent reminder of the connection they shared. Joshua was one of the good ones. The real ones. The first to show up when someone needed help—whether it was moving apartments, fixing something, working on a car, or just arriving with a joke and a playlist. He was sarcastic, biting, hilarious, and deeply kind. He could make you laugh so hard your face hurt, then turn around and drop something wise and heartfelt when you needed it most. Joshua worked hard, created art and music in his downtime, and went to more concerts than anyone could count. He loved loud guitars, honest lyrics, and being part of something bigger in a crowd of strangers singing the same song. His favorite band was The Wonder Years, whose lyrics often echoed the way he saw the world—raw, real, and aching with love and loss. As one of their songs says: “We’re no saviors if we can’t save our brothers.” Joshua saved people all the time, in a hundred quiet ways. The world feels heavier without him in it. He is survived by his son, Emmett; parents, Robert Minion and Cathleen Clifford; sisters, Katy (husband Justin) and Emily; step-siblings, Derek and Brittany; and his beloved dog, Sweetie. He was “Uncle Josh” to his niece Harlow and nephews Jaden and Weston, who absolutely adored him. He shared a special bond with Justin—more like a brother than a brother-in-law. His memory will live on through his grandparents Paul and Linda Cardoza, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many, many friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his Granny, Virginia Minion; his Grandpa, Ed Minion; and his uncle, Michael Minion. Joshua’s absence is a hole that can’t be filled, but his memory is a light that will never go out. We’ll carry him with us—in the music, in the laughter, and in all the moments we show up for each other, just like he did. In honor of Joshua, throw on your favorite album, tell someone you love them, and be a little kinder than you feel like being. That’s how he lived everyday.
