Josephine Kate Bissell-Henry, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Quality Adult Foster Care Home in Greenville. The daughter of Pearl Belle (Cogswell) and Clarence A. Bissell, Sr., she was born on April 13, 1924 at Vestaburg. After 41 years of service, Josephine retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company in 1989 where she worked as a shipping clerk. Over the years, Josephine had attended the Community of Christ Church, as well as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Welch in 1995; her last husband, Clyde Henry; and two brothers, Fay Bissell and Booner Bissell. Surviving are her grandchildren, Susan & Larry Salinas, Kimberly & Wade Swartout, Victoria & Douglas Eiseler, and John & Julie Welch, several great grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Bissell, and Eugene & Char Bissell; a sister-in-law, Gerri Bissell, all of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the American Heart Association will be available at the funeral home.
