Mr. Joseph Eugene Simones, 50, of rural Gowen, passed away Tuesday evening, June 24, 2008 at home. The son of Myron Eugene & Valeria S. (Frencel) Simones, he was born on June 13, 1958 in Hammond, Indiana.
After high school, Joe served his country for over ten years in the U.S. Army, including four years stationed in Korea. He was employed at Extruded Aluminum in Belding.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Anthony Pariso in 1983; and by his father, Myron Eugene Simones on Sept. 25, 2000.
Surviving are his mother, Valeria Simones of Greenville; two daughters, Elizabeth Simones and Rebecca Simones, both of California; his companion of over a decade, Tracy Jean Larson of Gowen; Tracys daughters, Jennifer Lynne Ritter, Elizabeth Anne Ritter, and Miranda Jo Ray; a sister, Rebecca & Frank Pariso of Hebron, Indiana; three brothers, Brian & Penny Simones of Greenville, Daniel Simones of Stanton, and Ronald Simones of Greenville; a special aunt, Dorothy Frencel; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Private family services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek, with burial following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to either the Michigan Special Olympics or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Montcalm County.
