It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph (Joe) Alan Shue, age 67, of East Lansing passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Hospice House of Mid Michigan under the care of Sparrow Hospice with family at his side.
The son of Richard (Dick) Allen Shue and Jane Elizabeth (Miller) Shue-McCoy, he was born on March 17, 1956 in Lansing. Joe was a graduate of Haslett High School and was employed by Oldsmobile (oiler maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment) until disabled in 1979 from motor vehicle accident. After several years of recovery, he was employed as a skilled mechanic at Jerry's Union 76 Gas Station in Lansing. He loved music and playing his guitar, collecting coins and old trinkets, watching old western's on ME TV, attending church, long walks, and taking Buddy (pet) for walks.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Jane and younger brother Michael. Surviving are his children, Jaymi Shue (Abdo Ikar) of Lansing and Adam Shue (Brie Gary), of Webberville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary Shue & Janet of Haslett, Leanne Shue-McKenzie & James of East Lansing, Rick Shue & Lisa of Zephyrhills, Florida; many nieces & nephews; stepfather, Thomas McCoy of Gowen; and many dear friends, Kathy & Buddy, Jerry, Gram, Scott, Brita, Karen & Carolin.
Honoring Joe's wishes, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in East Lansing on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. with a gathering of family and friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Laingsburg Cemetery next to his parents and brother. Memorial contributions may be made to charity or cause of your choosing.
