Joseph Mark Bumstead, age 70, of White Cloud, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home under the loving care of his family and Corewell Health Hospice. 

The son of Kenneth Gordon & Ruth Elaine (Redinger) Bumstead, he was born on September 6, 1955 in Fremont, Michigan.

After graduating from Newaygo High School in 1973, he began his career as a lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Joe was an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to garden. 

Joe was more private about his faith but was a lifelong Christian and if asked he would tell you without a doubt he believed in Jesus Christ. Out of all of his accomplishments in life, he was always most proud of his family.

On January 8, 2001, in White Cloud, he married Cathey Jo Falan.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Surviving are his wife, Cathey Bumstead of White Cloud; their children, Melissa & Scott Fodrocy, Nathan Bumstead, Lorri Falan, Cheslea & Cody Tanis, and Heather Falan; eleven grandchildren Tyler, Caitlyn, Cecil, Harliegh, Vivien, Asa, Cody, Payton, Bryce, Liem, and Hadley; five siblings, Bruce & Elvira Bumstead, Mike & Kay Bumstead, Lisa & Jack Kisielewski, Amy & Jeff O’Brien, and Tony & Carla Bumstead; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joe’s life is being planned and will be announced later.
