Jonathan Block

Jonathan Lee, "Jon", age 61, of Grand Rapids passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023. Born to Olive and Arend "Bud" Block March 3, 1962 in Grand Rapids, MI; Jon grew up alongside 4 brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother "Mickey", and beloved step-father Donald VanderMale. He is survived by his brothers Greg Block, Pat Block, and Carl VanderMale. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Susan Garn, and four children: Monica (41), Jacqueline (35), Samantha (31), and Joseph (22). He was an injection plastic molding technician by trade for many years, and attended GRCC several times while employed by Johnson Controls. He made many friends, and belonged to the same fantasy football league for nearly 40 years! He threw the best Super Bowl parties, and could cook incredibly well. Especially on the charcoal grill. Jon was an intelligent man, and knew how to read a room. He brought laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him, even while experiencing tremendous hardship. He left this world as a man without an address, but with a whole community of individuals touched by his wisdom. He will be missed. Visitation for Jon Block will be held on November 10, 2023 at 6pm at Bauer Community Fellowship: 4852 Bauer Rd, Hudsonville, MI 49426. A memorial service will follow at 7pm.
