With a personality that could light up the room, the charisma of a rock star, and a wit as sharp as a tack, John Guthrie Wiggins, known affectionately as Johnny, made his grand exit on February 27, 2025. Born July 10, 1946, in Harrisburg, Illinois, John spent his life being anything but ordinary. Known for his love of reading, his crooning voice, his poetic soul, his knack for knocking down pins, and his passion for feeling the wind against his face while riding his motorcycle, John was a man of many talents.
John was a man who knew the value of a good laugh and could always be counted on to serve up a generous helping of humor with a side of compassion. He was also known for his generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a proud Marine, and his service to his country was a testament to his courage and character. His work as an inspector in the auto-manufacturing industry showcased his attention to detail and his commitment to producing quality work. But if you asked him, he'd tell you that his real occupation was being the best husband, father, brother, and grandfather he could be. Above all else, besides getting rich of course, John loved his family and friends.
John is survived by his devoted wife Judith Wiggins. He will be deeply missed by his wife and daughters, Jenny Potter and Jessica Reeves, his son-in-law Zach Reeves, and his grandchildren: Justice, Jazmine, Jalyn, Ashley, Haleigh, and Kenny. He also leaves behind his siblings: Mary Conklin, George, Roy, Paul, and Riley Wiggins. John is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Wiggins and Delphia McAnnally, his son-in-law Nathan Potter, and his siblings: William and David Wiggins, Betty Hoffman, Eula Leitch, Richard Wiggins, Frances Reynolds, Juanita Kent, and Janet Pabey.
In line with John's Christian faith, we remember the words of 2 Corinthians 5:1, "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." We know that John is now residing in his eternal home.
