John Vroon

Our beautiful husband, father, and grandfather, John William Vroon's love of life didn't come to an end in his death. John passed away on Monday September 6, 2021, with his wife, two daughters, and son at his side at the age of 85. John was a graduate of Calvin College and received his doctorate degree in education from the University of Tennessee. John was a Shining light of gentle wisdom, love, and compassion. Our best memories are being in his presence from fishing to joking, talking philosophy, theology, and politics. John left a legacy of loving whomever he came to know; No matter what avenue from army reserve Veteran, paramedic, jail ministry, real estate, or just hanging with his family! John's greatest love, however, was his bride of 59 years, Mary Lois Vroon who he knew after one week of time, that she was the one he would spend the rest of his life with. The woman who truly had his full heart and spent his last few months pursuing with all his passion. No doors or windows would hold him! John's spirit will continue through his loving family of two daughters, Marie (Eric) Jansen and Patricia (Greg) Vroon-Frank; son, John (Sonya) Vroon; his nine amazing grandchildren, Brian Jansen, Sarah (Jason) Johnson, Nick (Megan) Jansen, David Warsen, Aaron (Emily) Warsen, Kyle (Reyni) Warsen, Ryan Warsen, Sam Frank, Logan, and Avery Vroon; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Beth Vroon Sytsema; and his Grace Church family and friends sprinkled all over Grand Rapids. John has joined his four brothers and his grandson, David Warsen in the light of our creator! Love truly is what binds us together! Thank you to all the many people who cared for our Dad in the last months of his life. We are grateful for your love and support. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 100 Buckley St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
