John Thomson

John Arthur Thomson, born September 18, 1952, passed away at the age of 69 on January 22, 2022, from COVID pneumonia at the University of Michigan Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. John is survived by his wife, Rose of Comstock Park; his daughter, Michelle (Thomas) Browning-Salisbury; three grandchildren; several stepchildren, nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Kathy Thomson and several family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Velta Thomson; his brothers Vincent, Thomas and Steven Thomson. John graduated from Comstock Park High school in 1972 and went on to work at Kelvinator and Coca-Cola becoming a teamsters union steward. He also owned a business, JAT Video and Vending and drove long haul truck before he retired. John enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating, music concerts, traveling and dancing. He was also a dance instructor at the Fred Astaire Dancing School teaching ball room dancing. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and visitation will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. A small memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. A celebration of his life will take place in the spring of 2022 with a date yet to be determined.
