John Mulholland

John K. Mulholland, 64 of Kalamazoo passed away on February 2nd, 2021. The son of David L. Mulholland & Joan (Kendall) Mulholland, John was born on July 14th, 1956 in Chicago, IL. He was raised in Flint, MI. graduating from Carmen High School in 1974. John enjoyed the great outdoors and exploring in Manistee on the banks of Lake Michigan, where he developed his love for The Great Lakes. He held several jobs in his lifetime. None more fulfilling than charting open waters being a Licensed Boat Captain, better known as "Captain John." He chartered from the Great Lakes across the Coastal waters for 25 years. From the rivers, to the deep blue Seas, ending at the oceans. John was also a proud member of West Michigan Marine & Great Skate Wolverines Speed Team. John is survived by his daughter, Alicia M. Knight of Grand Rapids and his granddaughter Kinsley K.R McDonald; sister Carrie Mulholland of Marco Island, FL and brother David Mulholland. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marcie Greenman and Grandmother Leona A. Kendall. "That man is a success - who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."
