John Gordon Johnson, age 83, of Gobles, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at theVeterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek. The son of Martin & Edla (Anderson) Johnson, he was born on August 14, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Gordon owned and operated Gobles Television for many years. Gordon enjoyed spending time on photography, fishing, and working on projects around his home. Surviving are two daughters, Cathy (Jack) Ullrey of Kalamazoo, Rhonda (David) Orchanian of Portage; six grandchildren, Jessica Ullrey, Tim Ullrey, David Ullrey, Joseph Orchanian, Ben Orchanian, and Rosemary Orchanian; two great grandchildren, Jackson Petersen and Molly Ullrey; and a special friend, Karen DeKam of Gobles. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Gobles United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of ones' choice. Committal services, with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps, will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 (please gather at procession staging area at 10:45 a.m.). ( Arrangements were entrusted to the Michigan Cremation Company, honored provider of Veterans Funeral Care.
