John Fialkowski, age 90, of Crystal, passed away Friday morning, April 19, 2013 at the Laurels of Fulton in Perrinton. The son of Wanda (Przybylowski) & John Fialkowski, Sr., he was born on July 7, 1922 in Detroit. John was a decorated combat veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre at the battles of Gaudalcanal, Solomon Islands, and Cape Glouchester.
He spent most of his working years as a real estate broker, and in retirement was a farmer and antiques dealer. He had been a member of the Lions clubs in Colorado and Crystal, enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, and playing euchre and solitaire.
On April 19, 1979 he married Margie Ann (Breaze) Beckmann and together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant siblings; two sisters, Dorothy Sitarski, and Theresa Harris; and a step-son, William M. Beckmann.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Fialkowski of Crystal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Holen & Greg McKulick of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Linda & Dan Saylor of Augusta, Kansas; two step-children, Elisabeth Hebrank of Phoenix, Arizona, and Glenn E. & Jennifer Beckmann of Kenai, Alaska; two grandchildren, Jennifer & Eric Wesbrooks of Augusta, Kansas, and Jon & Shannon Saylor of Aubrey, Texas; a step-granddaughter, Rachel Beckman of Kenai, Alaska; three great-grandchildren, A. Jevon Saylor and Kaia Saylor, both of Aubrey Texas, and Trey Wesbrooks of Augusta, Kansas; his siblings, Eleanor Geer-Peake of Greenville, Raymond & Mary Fialkowski of Dexter, and Clara & Raymond Haggerty of Whitmore Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring his wishes, no services will be held and burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery near Battle Creek. Instead of flowers, contributions in John's memory to the Laurels of Fulton would be appreciated.
