John K. Coolidge, II

August 11, 1945 — December 14, 2025

Caledonia

John Kittridge Coolidge II, age 80 of Caledonia, Michigan passed away peacefully December 14, 2025. John was born in Orange County, Florida on August 11, 1945 to Dorothy Mae (Couch) Coolidge and Barnum Coolidge. John developed an early interest in the outdoors and wood working, both passions he would carry throughout his life.

John joined the Air Force at age seventeen, was deployed to Thailand and Vietnam, and was a true war hero who displayed extraordinary bravery when he saved a fellow serviceman from drowning in a crocodile infested river while escaping enemy lines. After serving his country, John attended both the University of Wyoming and Grand Valley State University where he earned his MBA. John married his beautiful wife Donna, January 5, 1971, and welcomed their daughter Elizabeth Coolidge into the world March 15, 1977.

John was a successful entrepreneur and businessman, retiring from his company Barnum Sales. During his retirement, John enjoyed spending time in his impressive woodworking shop, where he welcomed friends and offered his expertise. John also enjoyed playing cribbage and played countless games with his cousin Jackie…their games often included political debates and lighthearted teasing.

Lake Bellaire held a special place in John’s heart, a place for family gatherings, and lifelong memories. John and his wife Donna were always welcoming hosts, enjoying the company of family and friends by the water.

Known for a generous nature, sharp wit, and deep love of family and country, John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  A private service will be held for family and friends to honor John’s remarkable life.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Veteran’s charity of your choice.
