Jody Lynn Kreiss, age 67, of Grandville, Michigan, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Jody was born April 14, 1959, in Royal Oak, Michigan, the eldest daughter of Robert and Marlene Kreiss. 

She is survived by one daughter, Jessica Smith (Cody Detmer) of Hamilton, MI, one granddaughter, Ellie Detmer of Hamilton, MI, one sister, Kelly Kreiss (Andy Gearing) of Grandville, MI, nieces Danielle Kreiss, Keara Gearing and Riley Gearing, and boyfriend of 15 years Kevin Baker of Grandville, MI. She is preceded in death by one brother, Steve Kreiss. 

Jody was a devout Christian and a very kind hearted and giving person. She choose jobs in customer service at places like Meijer, Five Guys and Burger King to work with people. Jody lived in many fun places like Ann Arbor, Texas, Florida, California, but eventually chose to settle in West Michigan to be close to family.  She absolutely adored being Granny Jo to Ellie and was looking forward to meeting her future grandchild who will arrive in November.  Jody enjoyed lakeshore trips, movies, music and loved to laugh.  

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
