Jimmie Collett

December 13, 1960 — July 30, 2024

To a man who knew how to squeeze every ounce of joy from life. Jimmie Collett, also known as Rainbow Charlie to his many friends, embarked on his last great adventure on July 30, 2024. Born on December 13, 1960, in Beverly, Kentucky, he spent his 63 years collecting experiences and spreading laughter like a contagion. Jimmie was a spirited soul, a charismatic entertainer, and a compassionate friend. As the quote goes, "You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing." Well, Jimmie never did stop laughing. Jimmie was a man who knew how to party and had a knack for turning life into one big festival, as he was there at many of them throughout the years. He roamed from Beverly, KY, to New Tazewell, TN, From Mesa, Az to Dessert Hot Springs, Ca and finally back east where he settled in Marcellus, Michigan, leaving a trail of laughter and sticker tags in his wake at what he called home Rainbow Farm. As the light he was, he made the world his stage, turning everyday moments into stories so vibrant and funny, you'd swear they were straight out of a novel, writing novels themselves within the journals he kept throughout life. With a passion for camping, traveling, music, and trying new foods, Jimmie was most at home around a campfire at Rainbow Farm, carving walking sticks, playing with his grandchildren and regaling his loved ones with tales from his many adventures. Jimmie leaves behind a big legacy, always spreading love and peace where his soul would land him. His two daughters, Jessie Collett and Mary Collett, carry on his spirit, along with his grandbabies, Tamara Hinds and Step-Son and Special Friend Jeffery Winchester, Asa Lee James, and Asuna Shelia Marie. Great grandbabies, Abby Lynn Carroll, James Wallace Carroll, Amaya Lace Jeffrey, and Jaimee Alline Jeffrey. He left his love to carry on with his very own Charlie's Angel, Annie and despite his separation from his wife, Guynel Collett, she remained a part of the tapestry of his life. He also left behind close family that he loved incredibly much, His Cousins Tammy, Terri, and Preston Collett, special nieces Driana Collett, Brittnay Asher, Brandy Collett, Patty Cooper, Star Brock and nephews Michael, Derrek and Dakota Collett and Darryl William, Kevin, and Jimmy lee Veach. He had so many friends who were more like family, His chosen brothers and sisters Smiley, Jim Morrison and wife Stephanie from State Line Farm, Terry Trine, Terps & Reggie, Rob Davis and Raven Keith, Teresa Moss, Bob Ross and Kiwi, Amanda Gould and so many more who will carry on his name in the stories they will share around campfires. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Mary Collett, his mother Juanita Collett, and his brothers Darryl Asher, Curtis Asher, David Brock and Walter Asher Jr., Cousin Teresa Collett and his nephew Dustin Asher. And his dearest friends who started the fire in his soul, Tom and Rollie. May they all live on forever within us spreading the peace and love of being free!
