Jessie Rasnake, 85, of Martin, Michigan left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 22, 2022, in Allegan, Michigan. He was born July 29, 1936, to the late George Washington Rasnake and Nora Hunter-Whittaker- Rasnake in Caretta, West Virginia.
Jessie is survived by his children, Corbett Rasnake of Grand Rapids, Larry (Chris) Rasnake of Wayland, Lester Rasnake of Martin, Margaret (Jim) Stoken of Allegan, Kenneth (Lorie) Funk of Allegan, Kendra Funk of Otsego, Kim (Will) King of Martin, and Kenlee Funk of Rockford, IL. He is also survived by his first wife, Bobbie Moss; son-in-law, Scott Jenkins; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Thomas.
Growing up in the hills of West Virginia, he developed many talents and a strong sense of independence, there was nothing he couldn't do when he put his mind to it. He will be remembered for his hunting and fishing skills, bountiful gardens, expert cribbage playing, his reputation as a garage-saler extraordinaire as well as his ability to spin a tale.
He loved all things nature. Loved his family fiercely and never met a stranger, he had a bright smile and charisma that was hard not to be drawn to. He was a man with a million friends. Jessie had the ability to make you feel like you were the most special person in the world...everyone thought they were his favorite.
Jessie was a wonderful Grandpa, Papa and Big Papa to his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
Jessie was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; his brothers, John, Frank, Alfred, Marvin, Alvin, Corbett, Silas, George and Paul; and sisters, Virgie, Mary, Ethel, Mae, Rosie, Margaret, Dellah, Sarah and Alice.
Gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Martin United Methodist Church, 969 E. Allegan Street, Martin, MI 49070, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Wings of Hope Hospice would be appreciated.
