Jesse Pendergrass

January 31, 1982 — October 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jesse Pendergrass, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Jesse left this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity.

Jesse was the beloved husband of Rebecca Pendergrass, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. Their bond was one of true friendship and partnership. Rebecca was not just a wife, but his soulmate and best friend.

He was a proud and loving father to his children: Angelina Pendergrass, Olivia Pendergrass, Drennen Pendergrass, and Xavier Pendergrass. He was also a caring stepfather to Caden and Sabina Perkin, who he loved as his own.

Jesse is survived by his mother, Cheryl Pendergrass, and Bob Valdez, and was preceded in death by his father, Jack Pendergrass, and grandparents, Van (Myrtle) Pendergrass and Ivan (Jennie) Devries. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack (Dana) Pendergrass Jr. and Jennifer Pendergrass, along with his in-laws, Harry and Karen Williams, and his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jenni Williams. Jesse also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and many loving nieces and nephews, as well as many, many great friends.

A genuine and kind-hearted man, Jesse served his community and supported his family as a tow truck and transport driver, a role in which he took great pride in, not just for the work itself, but for the opportunity to help others, often during their most stressful moments.

Outside of work, Jesse loved spending time with his family and going on side-by-side trips, creating memories filled with laughter, adventure, and connection. Those who knew him will remember his big heart, warm smile, and his ability to make people feel seen and supported.

Jesse’s absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of many, but his spirit will live on through the love he gave so freely and the memories shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to be sent to Move Over Michigan to help the families of affected emergency roadside workers and to spread the word – move over, slow down!

A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, from 1-5 pm at 9230 S. Cedar Drive, Allendale, MI 49401.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006.
