Jeanice Marlene (Carpenter) Goltz, age 82, of Cedar Springs, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Laurels of Kent. The daughter of Chester E. & Lela F. (Seeley) Carpenter, she was born on March 15, 1933 in Rockford.
Jeanice loved her family, crocheting, and being called "Grandma Great". She was a member of the Rockin' Red Hats Society of Cedar Springs and the Cribbage Club of Rockford. She also loved getting her hair done by her longtime friend, Jill, and also having her nails done.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 31 years, John William "Bill" Goltz; a baby sister; and her step father, Marvin Jeffries. Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Bruce) Andersen of Cedar Grove, WI, John (Kathy) Goltz of Mesa, AZ, Barry (Maureen) Goltz of Sparta, and Marlene (Mike) Turner of Gladewater, TX; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; brother, Charles E. (Chuck) Carpenter, of Rockford; sister-in-law, Melody Goltz of Grand Rapids; special friend, Heidi Watts; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and dear friends, Caroline Kelley and Lila Bowman, both of Cedar Springs.
A memorial celebration will be held from 12 Noon - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Febuary 27, 2016 at Cedar Springs American Legion, 91 N. 1st St., Cedar Springs. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Algoma Cemetery, 10516 Grange Ave. N.E., Rockford, with a luncheon to follow at Algoma Baptist Church, 10515 Grange Ave. N.E., Rockford.
