Jeanette Vanderhaag

Jeanette Marie (Roberts) VanderHaag, age 85, passed away in her home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Ethel "Bobbie" (Hanes) Roberts. Jeanette is survived by her daughters Cindy Dorey and Deborah Benson; her grandchildren Bobby, Brandon, Tony, Brock, and Jason; her five great grandchildren; sister Joyce (Thom) Bland and her children Tara (Luke) Witt and Emily (Ken) Mol; brother Jerry (Dawn) Roberts and his children Jennifer (Cory) Shullo, Heather (Kurt) Zachmann, Sharlene (Tim) Organ, and Michelle Ripley; and several great nieces and nephews. Jeannette grew up in Ensley Center and graduated from Sand Lake High School. She taught school for a number of years and later retired from Kent City National Fruit. Jeanette was raised on a farm and grew to have a passion for picking fruits and caring for her chickens. She enjoyed baking her famous pies, and making the best jams and canned peaches around. Jeanette loved her church family at South Ensley United Methodist Church, where she spent many of her early years teaching Sunday school and playing the piano. She will be remembered for her hospitality, enjoying having visitors sit at her kitchen table for an afternoon conversation and always sending them home with a treat.
