Mrs. Jeanette F. Rieckman, age 71, of Oakfield Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2008 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Raymond & Flora Dolly (Johnson) Sherman, she was born on Jan. 18, 1937 in Lakeview.
On Sept. 25, 1954, at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, she married Francis H. Bud Rieckman and together they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage. Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandma who always put the needs of her family before herself, in addition to working at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company for 33 years. She was a member of Oakfield Baptist Church, as well as the ladies auxiliaries of the Cleveland-Wolverton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3794. She enjoyed her flower gardens, birds, reading, and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin siblings; a sister, Beverly Abbott; a son-in-law, Kerry Laster; and a son, Michael David Rieckman on Oct. 16, 2004.
Surviving are her husband, Bud Rieckman; two daughters, Diane Marie Rieckman of Cedar Springs, and Julie Ann Laster of Belding; a son, Daniel Lee Rieckman of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Amanda & Ed Earl, Marcus Rieckman, Beth Rieckman, Craig Rieckman, Harrison Laster, Anthony Laster, and Jared Laster; four great grandchildren, Harley Earl, Caleb Burch, Samantha Earl, and Lauren King; brothers and sisters, Chuck & Carol Sherman, Arlene Davis, Susan & Larry Rhanor, Joel & Betty Sherman, Nora & Amos Sharp, Donna & Mike Toth, Joyce & John Schutte, and Terry Sherman; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Ralph & Edla Rieckman, John Rieckman, Katherine Rieckman, Bea Rieckman, and Arlene Rieckman; and many, many nieces and nephews.
