Jean Schrotzberger

d. January 5, 1933

Jean (Wilber) Schrotzberger was born on January 5, 1933 and grew up in central Michigan. An excellent student, Jean graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, and received a scholarship to attend Michigan State University. There she met and married Glenn Wilber. Together they had five children: Beth, Shannan, Barbara, Neil and Scott. While raising her family, Jean earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. She taught first grade at Ann Visger Elementary School in River Rouge until she retired. A lifelong music lover, Jean was a talented vocalist whose beautiful soprano voice delighted her family, as well as the members of several church choirs and community choruses. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Along with the countless hand sewn quilts adorning the homes of friends and family, several of Jean's quilts were auctioned to support the Great Lakes Symphony. A determined optimist, Jean lived her life with quiet enthusiasm. Her lovely disposition and easy laughter made her a delightful companion - especially to her second husband, Bob Schrotzberger, with whom she happily shared the last ten years of her life. Jean is predeceased by her first husband, Glenn Wilber, her mother, Hazel Angell, her sister, Myrna Brown, and her sisters-in-law, Fay Wilber, Ardis Hall and Irene Wolff. She is survived by her husband, Bob Schrotzberger, her children and their partners: Beth and Erik Hoogerhuis, Shannan Wilber and Laurie Mattioli, Barbara Wilber and Mary Turner, Neil Wilber, and Scott Wilber and Carol Middlebrooks Wilber, and her grandchildren, Katya , Case and Marijke Hoogerhuis, Jake and Liam Donaldson, and Colin Wilber- all of whom mourn her passing and celebrate her legacy of love and beauty.
