Jean M. Madsen, age 74, of Trufant, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center in Greenville. The daughter of William & Hilda (Cottrell) Scoville, she was born on February 28, 1939 in North Tonawanda, New York.
On November 18, 1972, in Trufant, she married Kay Elwood Madsen and together they raised two sons and enjoyed twenty-one years of marriage. Jean worked outside the home at the J.C. Penney store in downtown Greenville and retired from Blodgett Hospital as a telephone operator. She loved to crochet, making blankets and baby clothes for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William "Bill" Scoville; and her husband, Kay E. Madsen on July 6, 1994.
Surviving are her two sons, David & Marta Madsen of Bradenton, Florida, and Roger & Autumn Madsen of Trufant; her beloved granddaughters, Teresa & Nick Smith, Rosa Madsen, all of Bradenton, Florida, Bailee Madsen, and Ally Madsen, both of Trufant; her sisters, Betty Dawley of Sanborn, New York, Shirley & Robert Manning of Boerne, Texas, Finetta Musser of Trufant, Dorene & Robert Elwell of Bergen, New York; a brother, Charles & Sharon Scoville of North Tonawanda, New York; an aunt, Audrey Madsen of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. Honoring Jean's wishes, no funeral services will be held and burial will take place privately at Trufant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jean would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the Trufant Scholarship Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or donations can be made at Huntington Bank.
