Jay Becker

Jay Dinsmore Becker, age 78, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born October 4, 1942, in Grand Rapids, to the late Edward and Helen (Dinsmore) Becker Sr. Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966. He went on to obtain a bachelors degree from Central Michigan University. He had a diversified job history ranging from sales and marketing, computer programming, to OTR Operator. Jay enjoyed, fishing, boating, riding quads, ballroom dancing, wood working, and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being a volunteer and member of the American Legion and local Lions Club. Survivors include his two daughters, Leah (Alan) Watterson and Connie ( Frank ) Chrisman; grandchildren, Ashley and Alexander Watterson and Will and Morgan Chrisman; and siblings, Edward Becker Jr. and Margaret Bradley. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Becker and Helen (Dinsmore) Becker. Gathering of family and friends will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Thornapple Community Church, 3260 Thornapple River Drive S.E. Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with a memorial service at 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heather Hills Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for the care and compassion they have shown throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Legion in Caledonia MI.
