Janice Jensen

January 23, 1944 — December 11, 2006

Mrs. Janice Leora Jensen, age 62, of Big Rapids, formerly of Grand Rapids and Trufant, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2006 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. The daughter of William Carl & Mildred (Ruschmeyer) Hochsprung, she was born on Jan. 23, 1944 in Glencoe, Minnesota. On April 30, 1963, in Brownton, Minnesota, she married Russell Judd Jensen. Together, they made their home in Trufant and raised three daughters. After the girls began high school, Janice herself returned to school, graduating valedictorian from her medical assistants program. She then worked for Dr. Choi and Dr. Youn in Greenville, and retired from Advantage Health in Grand Rapids. Over the years, she attended St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview, and more recently, St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. She was a member of the River Valley Car Club, although her greatest joy in life was her family... especially her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Fred Hochsprung. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Judd Jensen of Big Rapids; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol (Larry) Banfill of Grand Rapids, Cathryn (Scott) Claerhout of Big Rapids, and Cindy (Richard) Thornbury of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Samantha Jo, Matthew Lee, Kevin Scott, Katlyn Mary, Connor Edward, and Derek Thomas; one great grandson, Devin Michael; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Alan (Char) Hochsprung of Minnesota, Wallace (Roxanne) Hochspung of Illinois, and Judy Hochsprung of Vestaburg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with burial following at Trufant Cemetery.
