Janet Schansema

Janet Rose (Hulbert) Schansema, age 86, of Baldwin, Michigan, and previously of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was born November 21, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Norman and Rose (Langowski) Hulbert. Janet spent most of her working career climbing telephone poles as a Line Repair Woman for Michigan Bell (later known as AT&T) for over twenty years. In her spare time Janet loved to go golfing and play tennis. Survivors include her four children, Bill (Sue) Schansema, Ron Schansema, Colleen (John Menthen) Lenihan, and David Schansema; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Erma Warden. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Virginia Schansema; sister, Jackie (Chuck) Post; and brother-in-law, Tom. Per Janet’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rehoboth Gardens for their help in caring for Janet over the last couple of years and to Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion throughout this difficult time.
