James Vandenberge

James “Jim” Edward Vandenberge, age 65, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, joined his best friend and heavenly father on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born March 9, 1959, in Grand Rapids, MI to the late James and Janice (Dreuth) Vandenberge Jr. Jim worked in the printing industry for ten years before becoming a nurse’s aide and went on to work twenty years at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Jim was a very active member and sponsor within his local AA communities. He looked forward to seeing so many members that he loved at meetings and he himself was a well-loved member. A special heart felt thanks is given to Jim’s sponsor, Paul!!! Survivors include his life partner of 48 years, Garret Kooistra; his brother and sister, Bill (Cathy) Vandenberge and Jodi (Gary) Wiggins and their tribes; his very precious friend, Todd Stearns; two special relatives, Deb and Becky Dreuth; and four dear friends, Patty Geluso, Bill De Blases, Marty Dawson, and Virigina Gaye. Per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held.
