James Bruce Thompson, age 72, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Fredrick & Lucille (Hubbs) Thompson, he was born on January 15, 1946 in Greenville. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served during the Vietnam War. On November 12, 1983, in Greenville, he married Nancy Ann (Flowers) Waldron and together they enjoyed almost 35 years of marriage. Jim retired from the former Electrolux Home Products in Greenville, where he had worked as a department supervisor, after 23 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering on just about anything that needed repair, but his greatest joy in life was found in time spent with his family. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Thompson of Greenville; a son, Scott & Stephanie Thompson of Sheridan; a daughter, Karen Beemer of Gowen; his step-children, Stacy Waldron of Greenville, Tracy Twichell & Thomas Krocker of Cedar Springs; Jennifer & Steve Avery of Fenwick, Phillip & Cacey Waldron of Orleans; and Alicia Flowers of Grand Rapids; a special granddaughter, Jada Freeman (who he and Nancy are raising); twenty-three dearly loved grandchildren and ten precious great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Aylsworth of Greenville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Greenville Church of the Nazarene, 10087 S. Greenville Road (M-91), Greenville (enter church parking lot off of River Road). Honoring Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
