James Richard Scott, age 85, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Walter & Beulah Mae (Duckham) Scott, he was born on April 14, 1935 in Marshall.
On January 11, 1963, he married Diana Lou Vinkle in Battle Creek, Michigan and together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage and raised three children. James worked at Kellogg's in Battle Creek, and later in home construction for the U.S.D.A.'s Rural Development program. He was a member of the East Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Greenville, and enjoyed taking photos, writing letters to friends and family, and sharing his faith with everyone he met.
Surviving James are his wife, Diana Scott of Greenville; their children, Renee Lown and her husband, Don, Jimmy Scott and his wife, Tarra, and Chris Scott and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Korynn & Paul Olsen, Shawna Lown-Enbody, Kurtis Lown, Ashtin & Joe Cope, Grant & Danielle Scott; great-grandchildren, Charly Burns, Tori Burns, Peyton Burns, Clif Olsen, Makenzie Enbody, Alexis Enbody, Janie Enbody, Winifred Cope, and Ruby Cope; two brothers, David & Lois Scott, and Dale & Glenda Scott; a nephew, Sam & Teri Scott; and a niece, Debbie Scott-Hoskins.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim touched the hearts of many people in his life and always had a welcoming smile and hearty hello to all he met.
