James Schultz

Mr. James M. Schultz, age 74, of Gowen passed away Wednesday morning, July 15, 2009 at his home. The son of Marion and Mable (Plowman) Schultz, he was born September 6, 1934 in Lansing. On May 9, 1953, in Greenville, he married Barbara J. Race. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he proudly served with the 66th TAC.Recon Wing while stationed at Sembach Air Base in Germany from 1954-1956 and was a member of the Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan. For most of his life he worked as a stone and block mason and retired from the former Gibson Refrigeration Company. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching western movies, gardening and playing cardsbut most of all delighted in spending time with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Barbara J. Schultz; a daughter, Carol Cox; granddaughter, Melissa K. Radomske; grandson, Ernest L.T. Beemer; a sister, Phyllis Jensen; and five brothers, Robert Schultz, Jay Schultz, Harold Schultz, Ronald Schultz, and Norman Schultz. Surviving are his children, Debra & Gilbert Beemer of Howard City, Betsy & Mark Martin of Cass City, James & Victoria Schultz of Gowen and Timothy & Lisa Schultz of Gowen; son in law, Gordon Cox; siblings, Nancy & Aldeane Cogswell, Fred & Sandy Schultz all of Greenville, and Gerald Schultz of Texas; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to share in a time of food, fellowship and memories beginning at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Envelopes for memorial contribution will be available at the luncheon.
