James M. Van Ocker, age 49, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 15, 2008 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Gordon and Betty (Gessler) Van Ocker, he was born Dec. 29, 1958. Jim was employed by Gilmore Furniture where he was a skilled craftsman. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and greatly enjoyed the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father. Jim is survived by his mother Betty Van Ocker; his girlfriend, Teresa Richter; a sister, Mary Yates of New York; two brothers, John R. (Colleen) Van Ocker of Grand Rapids, and Ed (Sheila) Van Ocker of Portland; and several nieces and nephews and close friends.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private remembrance will be held.
