James Nash

Rev. James Kenneth Nash, Sr., age 81, of Gowen, passed away Tuesday evening, December 14, 2010 at his home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice. The son of Daniel Lewis & Bertha Elizabeth (Bean) Nash, he was born on April 4, 1929 in Rockport, Missouri. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps following World War II. After returning home he married the former Juanita Bonnie Ring in 1951 and together they raised four children and enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and motorcycling until she passed away on June 9, 2003. He had worked at Sparta Engineering and LuVan Manufacturing and in retirement found a new calling serving the Lord as an associate pastor at Cornerstone Worship Center in Vestaburg, in evangelism ministry, and later as a Chaplain at the Montcalm County Jail. On October 11, 2003, in Vestaburg, he married the former Patricia (Thompson) Houck. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Nash; a daughter, Delores Debbie Becker in 1993; three sisters, Madeline Roberts, Dona Dakin, and June Craver; and three brothers, Melvin Nash, Roy Nash, and Wayne Nash. Surviving are his wife, Pat Nash of Gowen; his children, James Jr. & Patricia Nash of Greenville, Robert Nash of Harrison, and Marie Bailey of Greenville; three step-children and their families, Rev. Douglas & Diane Corwin of Midland, Scott & Brenda Corwin of Greenville, and Pam & Dan Roseman of Salisbury, North Carolina; a sister, Betty & Larry Bennett of Stanton; two brothers, Steven & Barbara Nash of Greenville, and Daniel Jr. & Betty Nash of Sidney; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a special niece, Betty Hilton of Greenville; many other dear nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Les Calkins of Greenville. Visitation is Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Pastor Don Wolf of Cornerstone Worship Center will officiate and military honors will conclude the ceremonies with burial taking place privately at West Montcalm Cemetery. The Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care, is serving the family.
