James August "Jim" Mollo, Sr., age 76, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of August Henry & Harriet Jane (Ayers) Mollo, he was born on November 3, 1945 in Grand Rapids.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Jim served in the United States Army and earned the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Battle Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Marksman Badge, and the National Defense Service Medal, and was a member of the American Legion.
Following his honorable discharge, he completed his bachelor's degree from Aquinas College and on February 7, 1970, in Grand Rapids, he married Linda Ann Wittek. Together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage and raised two children.
Jim worked at the General Motors Burlingame plant in Grand Rapids for 17 years, and then had a second career with the United States Postal Service. A lifelong fisherman, Jim also enjoyed hunting in his younger years, was an avid reader, and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Margaret Lynn Mollo; and two sisters, Patricia Meyer and Janet Mueller.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Mollo of Greenville; their children, Jim & Cymone Mollo of Rockford, and Laura & Timothy Gehrke, Jr. of Langston; six beloved grandchildren, Jade, Chloe, Zhy, Malachi, Olivia, and Holly; a sister, Marilyn McGovern; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pastor Alan Flowers of Spencer Mills Church will officiate and military honors will be rendered by the United States Army.
