Mr. James Moses Mixon, age 91, of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, formerly of Detroit, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 in Grand Rapids. The son of Edward & Carrie (Smith) Mixon, Sr., he was born on April 6, 1914 in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Mixon was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army and had worked as a bus driver for the City of Detroit.
Surviving are a brother; three sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, with full military honors rendered by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 from the chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave. N.W., Grand Rapids, with visitation one hour prior to services beginning at 12 Noon. Burial in the Veterans cemetery will follow the service. The Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, is serving the family and is entrusted with the arrangements.
