James Leonard Kight, age 62, of Beulah, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly with his loving wife by his side, on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. He was born August 1, 1960, in Live Oak, Florida to the late Louie and Betty Kight.
Leonard worked many years in construction as a carpenter. He was certainly a thrill seeker and was known for his cave diving, bull riding, and bungee jumping shenanigans. He was often called "Hillbilly" and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Debbie; children, Heather (Bobby) Clayton and Stormy Holtrey; adopted children, Briana Taylor and Edward Wilson Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica, Garl, Mellissa, and Alexis Wilson, and Dmitri, Triston, and Desaree Denune; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Devin and Braylon; siblings, Sammy and Daphine Kight; brother-in-law and best friend, Eddie (Tasha) Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Munson Hospital in Traverse City and also Butterworth Hospital where the staff treated them like and became family.
