James Edward Johnson, age 77 of Caledonia, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family Jim was born June 21, 1947, in Wyoming Michigan, the son of Edward and Ann Johnson (Kruisenga).
Jim graduated from Rogers High School in 1966, then went on to attend Ferris State University where is received his degree in drafting.
Jim joined the United States Army in 1968 where he served as a Seargent until his honorable discharge in 1970.
On November 11, 1972, Jim married the love of his life Mary Reynolds, in Grand Rapids Michigan, with clergy officiating. Together they have three children. They also have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two more precious ones on the way.
Jim was very passionate about his work as a Tool and Die maker at General Motors where he worked for over 30 years.
In his free time Jim loved motorcycles, and loved building and flying Radio-Controlled airplanes
James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Mary Johnson (Reynolds); his children, Eric & Jacoba Johnson, Joseph Johnson, & Keri Elam; his grandchildren, Johnathan & Meriah, Kerstin, Karen, Aaron, Tyler, Alyssa, Logan, Kaylee, Olivia; and his great-grandchildren, Atlas, Zelus, Jaxon and Hudson; His brother, Ralph (Liz) Johnson.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Ann Johnson, his sister, Phillis Mental.
Visitation for James Johnson will take place at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Home, (3627 Linden Ave S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49548) on Thursday May 22, 2025, from 10:am to 11:00am. A short memorial service is to follow from 11:00pm to 12:00pm, with a simple luncheon to follow.
Family members/friends can attend a graveside service at 2:00pm at Fort Custer National Cemetery (15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012) with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Army & Fort Custer Volunteer Honor Guard.
